This piece is half pencil half India ink and Japanese calligraphy pen. The focal point is the eyes and face which are done in sticking detail in pencil and the line work was completed in Japanese calligraphy pen and the background is India Ink. This piece came from a photo of Jettychan from her rice farming experience in Niigata, Japan. The original piece was to be finished in only pencil but when the computer hard drive crashed, the idea of calligraphy ink instead seemed the perfect addition.
