Japanese Silverware

This piece is a sterling silver 3 piece set of flatware with a Japanese God theme. The three Gods are Amaterasu, the Sun Goddess; Susanou, the ocean God; and Tsukiyomi, the moon God. All three of these God were born of the creator God, Izanagi, Amaterasu from the tear of his left eye, Tsukiyomi from a tear of his right eye and Susanou from his running nose, after losing his wife during childbirth. Izanagi and Izanami were the creators of the Japanese islands and all of the Gods. Amaterasu is the spoon and contains a Mountaintop sunrise overlay in copper. Tsukiyomi is the fork and is in the shape of a moon with the kanji for moon overlaid in copper. Susanou is the knife which is made of stainless steel and is cut in the shape of a lightning bolt to represent his temperamental disposition. The colors were created with prisma color and then baked on. The designs were roll printed and each kimono represents the God that wears it. It was created using a layered paper doll method and placed on a circular base to stand like chess pieces.  This was Jettychan’s first foray into flatware, but she plans to get back into it with more themed pieces like this as soon as the studio’s jewelry division rolls out.
