Mi

O is for Otaku

This piece is a rubber plate print for a “What is your favorite Word” assignment which blossomed into an alphabet exploration through prints. This piece is Otaku and is a a self portrait of Jettychan as seen through a compact mirror. The word Otaku has come to be synonymous with Geek in English but in Japanese it is not so. Otaku is an undesirable person who is obsessive in their activities. Jettychan considers herself a gaming otaku, but must argue with Japanese friends over it because they do not want to be friends with an otaku. it was an interesting event Jettychan saw while in Tokyo. The title is a play on the fact that it is a self portrait and that the word mi is pronounce the same was as me.
